I realize thier are way too many to list. Probably could have broklen it down into 3 groups: Movie, TV, and Cartoon...

Ace Ventura
Gadget
etc...

I had to go with Magnum P.I. (I'm sorry Private Investigator) you can still catch reruns on WGN at noon (est).

Little known fact: When he wears his dress uniform he has a Navy SEAL pin. He was a SEAL back before it was the "popular" prerequisite for every action hero.

Who else on that list was a SEAL?:rockin:

On his navy uniform, one can see the blue and white ribbon for the navy cross, as well as the naval special warfare insignia. This means he earned the nation's second highest award for naval personnel and was a SEAL.

I can't participate in any detective poll that doesn't include Philip Marlowe, my number one choice! Followed by Nick Charles who, sadly, is also not on the list.

Best TV detective was definitely Columbo. I almost voted for Dirty Harry--he's certainly a lot cooler than Columbo-- but Columbo was simply better.

He's not on the list and I don't know whether they ever made any movies with him in them, but the all time best detective ever was Nero Wolf.
