ah, cool. Well best of luck to you. Where will the brewery be?
Ah c'mon now, don't give him that much credit...
I have had an HBT account since 2007 so you are accusing me of being all the other "harassing" accounts since mine was created before theirs. I assure you I am only beernutz on HBT.
I'm sorry if you're not, but I find it very interesting that all of a sudden everyone is bashing me and jayjay disappears. Then you all go away and he has something to say. Rinse repeat over and over like clock work.
For whom the bell trolls.I find it suspicious that you and JayJay never post at the same time...
Is JayJay trolling his own troll account?
Another layer to the legend..
And who are you today?Ah c'mon now, don't give him that much credit...
Hey OP @ismellweird will you post the results of your cupcake stout? I just racked my Kölsch over to the serving keg, with jelly and a donut tincture in there for our "Iron Brew" competition. I posted an update in my thread last night. I am curious how your cupcake stout turned out. Did it get ding'ed for anything? Was there any issues with the sugars from the cupcakes that caused the bottles to be gushers? Please share! Cheers!
I just don’t see how you can carry over any of those flavors from the mash. I would think the oils from the cake and icing would be troublesome. Oh well what do I know? I don’t own a brewery like you.....
Your very first homebrew batch ever scored a 44 and didn't win its category much less best of show for the contest?I will actually share with you because you appear to be the only respectful person on this whole thing.
There's a lot of stuff on the sheet that got into grades and notes on taste and appearance, etc. But category 30a, overall scored 44 which I'm told is almost world class. There are notes like no diacetel, silky mouthfeel, cocoa vanilla and strawberry which they seemed to really enjoy. Negatives they said a little overcarbonated and could have used more higher roasted malts, and very surprised that I was able to get the strawberry/vanilla from the frosting without it being sweet or artificial, which apparently due to me letting it ferment for a long time but also my source for rejected cupcakes is very high quality. A bit too much alcohol warmth but it's 10%. I used the cupcakes in the mash which was a suggestion from Pedro and a few other techniques he told me about that I think really helped but that's where I have to end this because it's my flagship and I truly believe I've stumbled on everything, but can reproduce now at full scale. Very lucky. Hope this puts an end to some of this monkey business on here.

Yeah, I read your thread a while back. Sounds interesting. I am curious to see how it turns out. I think the way you did it would be the best way next to just adding artificial flavoring but there is no challenge to doing that. I am wanting to make a Mexican food inspired quad with ancho chilies, Mexican brown sugar, and cinnamon. Might have it ready before the winter but IDK just an idea. That's why with my "Iron Brew" donut and jelly beer, I made a tincture with the donuts. I was concerned with the oils and other artificial ingredients would have a negative affect on the beer. I tried to remove as much of the solids as possible and skim the oils off the top of it too. We shall see how my beer turns out in the next week or so.
OP (@ismellweird) can you scan and upload the scoring sheets? Or at least take a picture of the pages and attach them. I would be curious to read what the judges said exactly and their ranks. I assume at least one of the judges are BJCP certified, right? By sharing the judges feedback on the scoresheets, it will not disclose any of your trade secrets for your flagship beer. Thanks for sharing with me, but I am really curious about this b/c I do like to experiment with cooking and my home-brews.
Really? That is interesting because what you wrote earlier was "It scored well in its category." What contest was it?What do you mean of course it won the category

If you could provide us the information of the homebrew competition you entered your beer in, then we could possibly look up the winners in each category.
Just to put this out there to help you, please don't take it personal.
Mell, honestly how do you think you will be able to run this brewery being so sensitive? Do you think everyone is going to love everything you make and will all welcome you with open arms? What will you do when some hipster beer snobs come in and hate on your beer then write terrible reviews online about your business? Haters gonna hate man. You gotta shake it off.No, I don’t think so. It was near my house and I am not giving all of you details that could compromise my privacy or security. With all do respect you’re just a bunch of condescending thugs.
Well everyone already knows that your name might be Mell, you might be opening a brewery named ismellweird, and they might see your face on a documentary with a Kato look alike. If any of this is true then all they need to do is come to your brewery if they want to find you.So don’t take it personal, but you want info that will next lead to someone knocking on my door. I don’t think so. Sorry. At this point you are bullying me into giving up my own personal security.

30A on BJCP is spice, herb, or vegetable beer. Is that right?
