Hi All,

From should I say warm Michigan 40 degrees F. Being that it is the first day I the 40's here in bone chilling Michigan I decided to fire up the grill and cook some chicken leg quarters. What I was wondering is what does everybody like to drink while grilling. My choice tonight was Lagunitas brown sugga barley wine which with our still cold A** temps is fitting. What do you all suggest for the warmer months to come. I'm sure most will say a home brew but what type of home brew? We are getting to what I consider as the brewing season here in Michigan so I'm looking for my first brew for the year. Looking for suggestions.

When it is damn cold I like a big, strong barley wine. Sierra Nevada's Bigfoot comes to mind.

I've got a grapefruit sculpin while sitting in the back yard right now. I don't have any specifics to drink when or where, usually just what's the first thing I grab out of the fridge. Well I do tend to avoid having several stouts in a row.

I take my grilling very seriously. If I am smoking something on Weber that takes hours, I need a beer that will allow me to start drinking at lunch time but keep me sharp throughout the process until dinner. A nice 4-5% brown ale or blonde pairs magically with bbq. If I'm cooking steaks, chicken, seafood, or anything that's fairly quick I drink whatever I have on hand.

Just like when brewing, drinking can cause mistakes, so I try not to get carried away with the brews while I'm grilling.

Bring on Spring!!

I grill year round so in the cold i like anything big. Barrel aged beers are great too. Anything that'll keep me warm.
In the summer i dig hoppy pale ales, rye beer, and i brew a half 2 row, half wheat, and a touch on munich, paired with a single hop of either Amarillo, citra, or centennial, with sliced kumquats in the keg. Its very tasty on a hot day.

I grill all the time. I like something light. Modelo Especial, Shiner Bock, Miller Lite even. A beer. Really any beer.

It's a lot greener where your are all I see us white I'll trade you!!!

When I put a big chunk of meat in the pit, I like the Cooper's English bitter. I also make a mop sauce with a bottle of it. Recipe is in the what did I cook this weekend thread someplace. But with fowl or seafood, I like a pale ale, IPA, or some other lighter beer. Ot even a woody chardonnay with grilled seafood.
