Is anyone going to de dag van de kriek this Saturday? I might have a look if they stop striking on the trains

Awesome TB story - LuxWanderer and I were messaging trying to meet up at Cantillon or 3F one day during my Belgium trip. I didn't have cell phone service. Day of, my sister and I went to 3F. Bumped into another guy at the bottle shop who just happened to introduce himself as Adam...and then it clicked that he was LuxWanderer. Such a coincidence. We decided to grab a beer at the 3F restaurant and went with that '97 OG. This was the best beer I had during the trip, if not ever. Looking forward to meeting up again in early October if we can make it work!
Was such a great way to end up meeting. Even my wife loves it when I tell her about these kind of beer happenings. Cheers Wino !!

XP from the CantillonWatch thread. I assume the same people frequent both and I have taken note of the responses but just in case this catches some different eyes.

Also I have been told that Cantillon is cool with bringing a bottle or two to share with the staff. I have also been told they are all about the big stouts, can anyone confirm this or should I keep my bottles home?

I will be in Brussels with some buddies from the 15th-20th, Cantillon and Moeder Lambic aside any suggestions on just cool places to eat and drink (does not have to be beer, can be cocktails and/or wine as well)? Our AirBnb is literally down the street from Moeder so that is our home base so to speak.

I will read through the whole thread later tonight, but if you can suggest any highlights we should definitely make sure we hit up it would be appreciated.

If you bring bottles they will likely say thank you and put them with the 10,000 other bottles they are given. It is unlikely they are going to stop and open them with you since they are working. Usually during lunch a bottle or 2 is opened.

As expected, I never bring stuff with the intention of opening them with the staff. Considering my buddies and I plan on stopping in a few times I would bring them more as a thank you and additional gratuity. I hope they take it home to be honest.

Was in Brussels Friday & Saturday and didn't get a chance to make it to 3F's bottle shop.

A&G released into the wild and I don't find out about it until I am home. Ugh.

I'll be in Belgium tomorrow (Brussels) and Tuesday (Antwerp) if anyone wants to meet up for a drink or to share some bottles. I believe our train from London arrives around 11:00 tomorrow morning and we'll have a rental car thereafter. I plan on grabbing drinks with Quatz in Antwerp Tuesday evening already.

We plan on doing Cantillon and Moeder Lambic for sure tomorrow, and then possibly DHVL if we want to drive out there (otherwise Delirium or Nuetnigenough). The only "set" plans we have on Tuesday are to stop by BiaB at some point to meet Kurt and drop some stuff off for him; not sure where we'll go as far as bars/restaurants are concerned. I feel like 't Antwaerps Bierhuyske and Kulminator are going to be on the list (or at least one of them). Let me know if anyone will be around either day!

IIRC De Heeren is only open for lunch on Mondays, and not at all on Tuesdays.

Honeymooning from Sept 2-18 in Brussels / Paris hoping to experience 3F Open Beer Days (any info on 2016 dates?). Anyways thank you all for the information/contributions to this thread which has greatly helped my planning! Cheers!
I'll be in Brussels on and off that same date range. As you probably already know by now 3F open days is Sep 1-5. I'd be more than happy to possibly meet up and split bottles, etc.

Just got back from Antwerp and it lived up to all expectations. A new spot Beer Lover's Bar recently opened not far from the Central Station and it is legit. Owner is really nice, spins his own vinyl, and had a great tap/bottle lineup. I had a Kernel IPA on draft and a '07 Oerbier Reserva.

I'll likely be there as well, and would be game to meet up/split bottles, do lambic things, etc.

Hi gents,

Looking to organise a (whales) tasting the beginning of september, during/after the 3f open days.

Anybody who's intrested or can help post here or contact me. I've got a possible location in leuven (half an hour from brussels by train) but a location in or near brussels would be better. Advice on location also welcome.

Does something like 2000 LPG qualify? Sounds like a great time

I'll be there until Sunday and would love to share some bottles with folks at Cantillon, DHvL, 3F, Moeder, or wherever. I'd have to think about what in the "whale" category I could bring with me; are you thinking strictly lambic or a broader range?

So, we have official verification of the dates for Open Beer Days, but also vague suggestions that the location might not be at the brewery. Does anyone have more information about that?

As they are closed until august, expect no information soon. It will probably be at the new brew location in lot, about 4 kilometers from the current location, but as you said, hasnt been confirmed yet.

Please not only lambic :)

3F posted this yesterday on FB:

"This year, the Open Beer Days will take place in the renewed lambikOdroom in Lot. Easily reachable by public transport, and only 2 streets from the train station of Lot (10 minutes from Brussels' Gare Du Midi). There are enough car parking spots on the lambikOdroom premises as well."
