Last Sunday I brewed a Belgian IPA. Fermentation was crazy for 4 days. 6 days later I checked the bucket and there was a thick band of green and brown gunk stuck tie the side about 3 inches thick. All the krausen has already sunk and there was a few bubbles on the surface. Should I check gravity now or give a few more days?

It can't hurt to let it go another few days, personally, I would wait a week at the very, very minimum. But he fermentation time is dependent on many variables including original gravity, yeast strain, and temperature, to name a few.

I don't like exposing a new beer to air unless it's necessary. So in my opinion, let it go a bit longer. The worst that could happen is that the yeast finishes its food or the beer ends up more conditioned.

if you wanna look at it then look at it.

you're using a bucket so just sanitize your hydrometer and drop it in. no scouping out a sample.

i'm willing to guess that your green stuff on the edge is hop matter.
