Hello!

First time brewer and just purchased the Northern Brewer Essentials kit. Is there a way to do a Belgian Golden Ale similar to Delirium Tremens for a beginner that doesn't take quite so long? Im not so concerned about the higher alcohol content as I am about the flavor and high carbonation.

Thx!
Eddie

That is one of my favorite Brewers.

Unfortunately no, cloning something like this is not possible with a simple "kit" recipe. Tho this beer can still be amazing...like every homebrewers first.

If a delirium is what u want, do a little research and u can find an easy clone..-- this was my favorite beer till I found sours.

Enjoy!

With the correct yeast, he appropriate hops, and some Pilsen LME, and acceptable fermentation temps, you can most certainly make a beer similar to Delerium Tremmens.

For sure! My question is more along the lines of, is it possible to make a beer in this style without waiting for months? Say I decide the alcohol content isn't important to me, can I brew a similar beer faster without the strength?

I would recommend for your first brew go with something a little easier. A brew like Delerium Tremens takes a little more skill to pull off. It will also take a little more time.

Brew a few easier batches to get your technique down and then try it. This will help you get a pipeline going so it is easier to wait for a good Belgian to reach it's peak.

I love Belgians and know that to do them right it takes several things. Good aeration of the wort( best with oxygen and a stone) A big healthy starter. And good temperature control of the fermentation. Even with these steps it still takes a while for them to really develop the flavor.

Enjoy.. And welcome to the hobby/addiction.
