I know being clean is very important and I do the best I can. I have star-san also have some easy clean and one of those carboy cleaners that has the pump to spray the water up inside the carboy.

But what is the easiest way to clean those dang hoses? Is letting them set wet inside is there a problem with mildew or mold forming, that is a concern I have at the moment.

The pump you have is a great tool to use for your hoses. I like to use star san when cleaning my hoses. I find that I use my hoes is often enough that a little bit of moisture inside the lines does not become an issue. It simply is pushed out when I sanitize the hoses just before the next time I use them. Hope that helps!

Wow never even thought of using that pump for that. Maybe I can devise some type of adapter to screw on the top of that nozzle that comes up so I can slide the hose onto it kind of like what my spigot has on it.

Time to go to the hardware store and look around. They are such a pain to clean but has to be done in order to reduce bacteria.

Hot water or steam is good for hoses. Steam penetrates the way chemical cleaners don't. If you have a steam cleaner, run steam through the hose, otherwise fill a bucket with boiling water and feed the hose into it so it is thoroughly filled and immersed, Then leave for a while to soak in the hot water. Guaranteed to kill any germs that will cause cider to go off.

I soak my hoses in some oxyclean and then use my jet bottle washer with hot water to flush them. You want to be sure to hold the end not hooked to the jet washer down in the sink, of you will have water everywhere.

Thanks for all the replies and suggestions. I bought a carboy cleaner which has a pump and forgot about the extra attachments it came with. One was very useful for sending a high pressure stream of water and cleaning chemicals through the hoses which is what I wanted to do. But when I plugged that pump in that hose came out of the bucket and I had water everywhere not to mention scared my African Grey to death.

Got it under control cleaned up the mess grabbed one of my clamps and cleaned all my hoses. Nothing like experience to make things right. :ban:
