I came home from work today expecting to see a happy but busy airlock. Instead, I found my 3 piece airlock in another zipcode....and the cat slighty hammered :drunk:

Blow off tubing from here on out....

Only ever had that happen once, stone ruinination clone with 007 managed to blow the lid even WITH at blowoff tube. Thankfully it was in my foam box ferm chamber or my wife would have had my brewing gear on the curb with a free sign on it.

As far as the beer being for an upcoming party, just clean the lid and pop it back on, I'm sure the beer is fine and will still taste great at your party.

Same happened to my first batch. I was looking at the airlock wondering if it would explode. Lo and behold, as the thought crossed my mind, the airlock rocketed into the ceiling. Lost about a gallon of beer, the cleanup was a bitch, but the beer turned out extremely well. :mug:

I had a carboy blow its top yesterday, not quite that epic but there was spray on the ceiling. My wife is awesome, she just laughed as I cleaned it up.

Blow off tubing im guessing is instead of using the small chamber run a tube into a bucket or a cup of water?

Bingo! I believe it was ancient Confucius who said, "man who use blow-off tube has more time to spend on HBT instead of clean-up" Or something like that!:)

Just stick a tube into a bucket? Is there a slightly better setup? I have 2cats who would tear up a hose and a bucket of water.
