Beer is too bitter tasting -Belgian witbeer.

Any idea what caused this?

I steeped the grain for 22.5 minutes

1oz pellet hops for 60 min

and

1oz pellet hops for the last 2 mnutes

Is it the pellet hops for 60 min that made it bitter?

And I put the hops straight in (not in a boiling bag)

BTW it just finished primary, will it become less bitter after secondary?

TIA

1. Can you post the recipe?
2. Yes the bitterness comes from the 60 minute addition
3. Yes bitterness will fade in both the fermenter and in bottle/keg as will the aroma hops (which could have an effect currently and be giving a hoppy/bitter impression)

Way too early to worry. As mentioned above, posting the recipe would help. BTW, don't really need to secondary that beer, but alright if you did so. I just started drinking a Wit that was bottled 9 days ago, very nice beer. Good luck.

Never need to secondary a witbier which should be cloudy from all that yeast anyway. Thats one of the reasons why those yeast strains are poor flocculators.

Depends on the type of hops you used, but my witbeer doesn't have any hop additions until 45 minutes. Having a 60 min addition, then taking a long time to cool will definitely add a bit of bitterness, just how much depends on the AA content of the hops you used.
