Many folks don't want detergent or rinse agent to touch their beer glasses as residue has the potential to interfere with head formation and foam stability. In that case, hand wash with hot water and dry, or wash in dishwasher without detergent or rinse agent on the high heat setting.

I'm not one of these people. I wash mine in the dishwasher along with everything else, detergent and all. However, I do not use added rinse agent. Seems to work fine.
Pez.

mine go in the dish washer with all the other dishes and get hit with detergent and jet dry. I get massive head and no off flavors.

My wife bought me some Riddel beer glasses for Christmas. The instructions for those say to rinse with warm water, dry, and hold over steam to eliminate spots. That's what I do, for what it's worth.

I just wash mine with hot water, and that's it! If you suspect detergent might be giving you problems with head retention, you can give them a quick rinse with salt water right after washing. The salt will remove any film left behind...

When im done drinking, I rinse my glasses with warm water and a little lliquid detergeent. Dry with a paper towel and back in the beer cabinet. If my wife gets a hold of them, she puts em in the dishwasher, and i've never had any ill effects.

i have cheap mugs and glasses. i bought them at the dollar store. Been putting them in dishwasher put been getting good head but no head retention. maybe time to spend some money on better mugs and glasses. thanks for the help. i looked today and had spots all over the glasses. probally going to start hand washing them. has anyone ever soak them in santizer???

i forget to rinse them out too usally have a couple homebrews and i start to forget things lol. thanks for the help though. i like frozen mugs too. What would be some good glasses and mugs to get???

I tend to collect different glasses. My favorites are the Sam Adams ones. Btw frozen keep your beer to cold and mask flavors in your ale. Good if the ale has off flavors, bad if you are trying to taste the complexities an ale usually brings.

i only use frozen mugs on my lagers. going to try soaking my glasses in santizer and rinsing them out with hot water then drying them in the dishwasher. see what happens the salt looks like a good idea too.

i have some house of blues glasses that i like and i have a mug from germany but that it really goes down hill lol.

When I read "beer glasses" the first thought that came to mind was the glasses from beerfest, but with real beer. Ive been awake for took long because it took me until someone said "mugs" for the light to turn on.. There I go over analyzing things, and looking at them as concrete with no imagination :p

It seems to depend on your water/ dishwasher/ detergents whether it is a good idea or not. Some people seem to notice a difference, others don't. It's always worth playing with things though. :)

Throw a few ounces of white vinegar in the final rinse of the dishwasher. Gets rid of any spots and keeps the dishwasher looking new.

I don't put em in the dishwasher, but I've found just a hot water rinse doesn't get em properly clean either. I generally just hand wash with mild dish soap, and every once in a while I'll salt scrub.

Boots haz no class. A yard of ale is what you wants. :)

I have a half yard glass in my mancave. That gets the cheaper commercial beer.

When I first read the thread title I mistakenly thought "beer goggles". Imagine my disappointment.

So I'm not the only one!
