As I was sipping on a Mountain Dew AMP last night I got to wondering why a guy couldn't make an "energy beer." Home brew is already packed with B vitamins, so why not mix in the other supplements that give an energy drink its kick? The list of ingredients on the can included:

  • Taurine
  • Guarana
  • Ginseng
  • L-Theanine

Assuming I could get them in some kind of relatively pure powder or pill form, do you think it would work to dissolve them into the beer right before bottling or kegging? I wouldn't think they'd add too much flavor but I guess I could test them on a smaller scale before dumping them into a full 5 gal. batch.

Has anyone tried anything like this?

Sounds like an interesting idea
I'd imagine that you could even take caffeine pills, powder them and put them in the beer somewhere along the process...who knows what flavors it will impart and what effect it will have on the beer. But interesting all the same
