My S&W M&P Shield 9mm from last year. Great day to day carry gun. Going to take it out this week and put it against my buddy's Springfield XDS 9mm

Tragically I lost all my guns in a boating accident. I had them all loaded up to take them to get them all registered and a rogue wave capsized the boat. :)

Me too! Funny how that happens, must be the annual "Take all your guns boating event".

Wow
Same thing happened to me. Lost them all except for the items registered with the ATF. Seems to be a rash of firearms boating accidents in the last few years.

What, no quad-rail on it?? :D

No quad rail. I'm putting on a magpul moe hand guard, because I think it looks better. But that's it. It will only need a red dot or scope and I'll be done with it. No crazy tacticool stuff yet!

+1 to MOE stuff. Way under-rated IMO.

I had fit issues with the MagPul hand guard on my DPMS carbine/rifle. I had to return it and get a quad rail hand guard (for about half the price). So I went from plastic with poor fit, to all aluminum with great fit.

I would seriously research the hand guard to make sure it will fit 100% correctly on your upper.

BTW, having the AFG2 (thinking about switching the the AFG actually) on the hand guard helps. With the quad rail, you also have more options for what you put on the rifle. I'm also NOT a fan of the large front sights, especially on a flat top. I'm looking to get free floating hand guards on all my future uppers. That includes the AR15 based pistol(s). I'll probably end up with a top rail on those hand guards, for sights. Right now, the plan is for one 5.56 NATO pistol and one 300 Blackout (7.62 x 35) pistol.

Bumping this!
I finally finished my AR build. My group buy code red lower got messed up. We got refunds and I bought a spikes. Everything else is pretty much Windham weaponry. I changed out the hand guard to a magpul moe, utg rear buis. All I need is a good scope. I need to shoot it and I don't have time!

I say buy a bunch of guns.... then a TON of ammo.. then drink a **** load of beer, then a whole ASS load of whiskey... then load the ****ing guns, walk down the street brandishing the sons of *******... and taunt the police.

That's what I say....

Not me... but go ahead and do that. I double dog dare you. It IS your right after all...

And I really REA-HE-HE-ALLY want to see the news coverage of that ****ing mess.

Hehehe...nice try, but if it ever came to that, that story won't hold water and or you won't hold up under the waterboarding.

Amazing how water plays into so many things...beer, boating, guns, memory... ;)

You were probably go to go until you acknowledged having them on an internet forum. Secrets are best kept...secrets.

Everything I have is already on the records so I can blather away freely. :)

Nope that isn't anyone's right. Taunting the Police is against the law by itself. And in most states possession of a firearm while drinking is illegal.

Why even post on this thread?

IMO, the MagPul handguards are ghey... I went to an aluminum quad rail on my DPMS carbine. I've also gone to a better stock, Hogue grip and AVG2 on the underside of the handguard. I have the rubber pads to go around the handguard when I want them. Picked up a NCStar 3-9x scope to put on the flat-top too. For BUIS, testing has proven that the MagPul ones are top of the heap. All others included in the drop testing lost zero. The MagPul BUIS did not. Considering how much some of the others cost (like from Troy) the MagPul items are a bargain.

I'm working on building a 300 AAC Blackout (7.62x35) pistol. Just need to anodize the lower (part of the Ares 80% bunch from the NES group butt-hurt) then get the barrel and muzzle device. We're set up to make the brass and load our own ammo there. Only difference between a standard .223/5.56 AR15 and one that shoots 300 Blackout IS the barrel and muzzle device. You use the same magazines and everything else. Planning on going with a 10.x" barrel on the pistol. Going to be interesting comparing it with the one my friend has (the one we've been reloading to feed). He went with the 8.1" barrel on it. Turns out you need about a 9" barrel in order to burn all the powder in the case.

All I need is a good scope.

What sort of scope are you looking for? I put a Nikon P-223 (fixed 3x32) on my M4-style carbine. Seems to work good...but by the same token it's not an ACOG. 'Course, the cost was a fraction of ACOG as well.

BTW sweed. if you want to test out the scope on my AR15, just let me know. Do bring some .223 ammo with you though.

I moved the scope as far back on the top rail as possible, to get better eye-relief with it. Going to sight it in (again) tomorrow with a friend.

I've also added a pad to the stock (from Rock River Arms) to help my shoulder. Changed out the stock 3oz buffer for a 5.2oz buffer to also help with shoulder impacts.

Don't even know, it's a whole new game for me. I'll figure out out.

Golddiggie, the magpul hand guard is just for now, simple. I really liked your quad rail with the rubber pads, I thought about getting something like that. But I was going with keeping the price down. I can add to it. I remember your scope, because I shot with it and liked it, haha. I hope to get out tomorrow to shoot at Pelham. Where are you guys shooting?

Btw, you find a job yet?

We're planning on getting over there about 12-12:30 tomorrow. Probably spend some time at the action range, and some at the utility range.

With the scope moved back towards the stock more, it should be even better. I need to check the irons, since I moved the rear sight far forward. For a good priced handguard (like mine) check with Rick Hann (HOF) out of Nashua (right near exit 5, from rt.3)... As for the job front, got some really good prospects right now. Got my fingers crossed that one of them pans out. Most are actually in NH too, which mean no state income tax. :rockin:

BTW, the handguard I got on my AR was under $50. Less than the MagPul item when I got that at Blackwater (they charged $75).

You going to the gun show this weekend? If you want to go up, there's a truck-pool spot open (a friend's truck, so room for more than two). You might even get to see his 300 Blackout pistol. :D

Thanks for the tip. I'll be away all weekend at my buddies lake house, so no gun show. I still need to get to one eventually.

Nice looking build. I'd add a new grip to the list with that scope of things to get for it. But that is just me, I hate that stupid finger detent on the standard grip, it always wears into my ring finger. After a few hundred rounds I get a blister if I'm not gloved up or have my finger taped. So it's ergo grips for me.

Yeah I like Nikon for reasonably priced scopes. I have the M223 3-12x42, I like to do my work at range :) but have a red dot I can toss on if need be.

nothing like going out right before you brew and let a few clips fly into random POS bottles with screw top lids. My perferred Concealed cary is a FNP9M in a paddle holster with an attached clip slot for a back up clip. I have also carried a Sig Sauer .357 but just found it didn't like my belly band holster very much.

Get a scope from Primary Arms. Yes they are knockoffs and made in China (what isn't nowadays?) but they are actually very high quality and do the job well!

IMO/IME, you cannot beat a Hogue grip. Especially at $14.25 (free shipping if you have Amazon Prime).

Getting closer to having my 300 Blackout pistol finished. Just need the barrel and muzzle device. I anodized the lower yesterday. Here it is with the LPK installed along with the pistol buffer tube and upper attached:

I'm liking the two tone effect on this build. Going to get some of the dye other people use (for other colors) as well as mix up the black I have. Will give me more options for coloring the aluminum.

I don't have the trigger guard installed yet, since I'm going to look into using screws for the pin. That way I can change it out [easily] later on if I wish.

I always wanted to paint those blaze orange muzzle caps on my real guns. No,,No it's just a toy, look it's got the cap.
