Hello,
I am a beginner brewer. I have a BB Robust Porter that I intend to brew in the next couple of days. I want to rack one gallon over bourbon soaked oak chips, one gallon over vanilla beans, and keep the remaining three gallons as is. I am assuming that I need to sanitize the oak (5-6 chips) in vodka for 24 hours and then barely cover them with bourbon while waiting to rack from the primary (soaking for 5-7 days)? How long can the beer stay on the oak in the secondary and can I put the bourbon in with them?
As for the vanilla... sanitize a coupe of beans in vodka for 24 hours and then in the secondary for how long? Thanks in advance for any help.
