I've researched the heck out of this topic (and starting a new thread because responses aren't all that recent) and I know for a fact I will be going with the 10" version of one of these brands. I have heard some people not having the amount of NG flow to their flame as they were hoping, which concerns me.

So, this leads me to- Why is the Bayou Classic so specific to state it is to only be used with high pressure? Yes, I realize they include the smaller opening orifice , but they realize the NG orifice are available out there. Is there any chance that the Bayou Classic has smaller diameter opening in the little holes where the flames would ignite from?

HB Shops are all specifically selling the Hurricane and while they can be had slightly cheaper thru Hurricaneproducts.net, the Bayou Classic is quite a bit cheaper (FYI- Lowes actually just price matched agrisupply, adding shipping charges on as well) and would appear to be the best prices option, provided absolutely everything is the same.

Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

I can't tell you if there is any actual difference inside the Bayou Banjo burner. But I used one with the natural gas orifice from Williams brewing (meant for the Hurricane burner). With NG piped straight in with no regulator (just the NG orifice), and the shudder wide open, I got a nice blue flame.

I'm currently using the 20 tip burner from Cpapc.com. It's fine, but it doesn't play with my spark ignitor as well as I suspect a hurricane burner would.

Yes, this is one of the reasons I have chosen the banjo route. Not to mention I bought a DIY single tier stand for a great price locally that is already with 4 screw/set holes for the 10" banjo ($50/ea incl shipping when Lowes price matched)

dcbc- how long do you think it takes you to get to boil (and what volume)?

Well, I don't have that stand or those burners, but I'm guessing I could get 14 gallons to a boil in a bit over a half an hour. I never really timed it though.

So I have yet to see any post on any site where someone has had both burners in their hands to compare the burner (flame) openings. If anyone has seen such a posting, or even better yet, been lucky enough to see both at the same time, please be sure to post here. Thanks in advance!

Even on the hurricane burner, it will work on LPG or NG. Just a matter of swapping the orifice. But your point is well taken. I couldn't tell you the size of the flame holes.

Where I'm going with this is- if all other things remain the same- the exact same pressure and orifice on both burners, and using the exact same amount of openness to the valve setting, it seems to reason that maybe, just maybe, larger flame holes on the Hurricane could produce more flame and thus, bring a pot to boil in quicker time. If this is the case, time = $ and I am willing to spend the extra $ on the Hurricane. But, I have a sneaky suspicion I am overthinking this lol
