Anyone into sake around here? Sequoia just released a bourbon barrel aged version of their Junmai Ginjo Genshu sake and it's really good! They're working on a few other barrels, too — really looking forward to trying them.

Saw a BOTTLE of Mosaic Psuedo Sue on shelf at a local spot... thought only cans were getting distributed? Stuff brewed "not at TG". Will the bottle actually be the good Psuedo? The cans we have gotten in CA have mostly been uneventful, but I've never had it from a bottle.
Bottles are brewed in IA, and tasted delicious although might be a bit old now. The ones we got down here were dated mid Dec.
Edit: That's what I get for only reading the last post on a page lol

Oooh, nice, will have to track that down. I'm a big fan of taruzake and koshu, but so little is brought to the states. Gotta start making it ourselves, I guess.

Hype has to be subsiding on PtY right? It seems RRBC is less popular than in years past what with their bottles showing up on shelves and weekend visits no longer necessitating two hour waits.

The one time I tried to go in like 2012, it was a six hour wait. I think it got up to eight hours in 2014/2015 or so. I'm curious if it will match that or finally be slowing down.

I've been talking with folks about this for awhile now. I think localized hype has died down, but the number of enthused out-of-the-area folks is likely just as high if not higher. It's a must-do-once for a lot of people in the beer world, and I think especially those from afar. I'm guessing there will be a couple days of 6-8 hour lines, with the rest of the 2-week period being around 1-3 hours.

Anyone else getting in line for Pliney the Younger this evening? If so, say hi. I will be in the red sleeping bag.

PtE now sits for days with all the other single bottles at Whole Foods in the city and their Tion beers last there for weeks. I think the hype is dying but PtY will continue to be a huge draw for the brewery and a want of beer nerds and new comers everywhere. It’s one of those heritage beers that everyone feels they must try at least once.

Kinda digging the decreased hype though. I love being able to casually grab RR off the shelves whenever I’m in the mood or want to send some extras in a trade.

I just wish they would start distributing Blind Pig again. Hopefully that happens once the new brewery is online.

I wouldn't be surprised, especially for the first weekend or so, if you were you to walk through the line and talk to people (no thanks) that many would be from at outside of the Bay Area/Sonoma/Napa. I'm sure there will always be people that somehow enjoy the line experience, but I think a fairly hefty chunk of the early lines are out-of-towners.

I'd wager the same. Both PtY and Beer Week have a way of bringing people from all over. Many of the lineatics (tm) are likely from out of state even.

Just throwing this out there. I'll be in Sonoma/Napa on Feb 23 for a few days. Wondering if any tap places like HopMonk or others would have PTY on tap or if by chance it would still be available anywhere in Santa Rosa?

It's gonna be a crapshoot. I'm not sure about up there, but around here virtually no one gets more than a keg or two, and so you have to be in the right place at the right time. Most places also put it on around beer week, which you're missing, but up there (with the proximity to the pub) they might wait longer. You'll probably just need to pay attention to FB/Instagram/whatever to see who's doing what when.
