Whole Foods Franklin and Potrero each got a case of BCBCS.

City Beer obviously got Reserve but apparently there's another distro of Bourbon County variants still in the pipes.
Any idea on east bay? Haven’t had coffee in a few years and would love to get a bottle or two. Only found regular on Black Friday.

East Bay gets ******, we never get anything.
I'm surprised Beer Rev doesn't get any. I bought Regal Rye from one of their anniversary sales a year or two ago (at an absurd price, but still they were sitting on it).

I'm resorting to random finds again like last year I found barleywine at Gourmet Haus Staudt (near work) maybe a month after black friday.

Two yrs ago (the infected yr) I found cases at the Safeway in Berkeley. None last yr or this yr. Last yr I found a few bottles around Christmas time at a random convenient store in Danville.

The tiny little Safeway by me had a couple of cases on the floor on Saturday afternoon. The main Safeway in Alameda always has had it sitting around for a few weeks the last few years.

Brian told me recently that he's not buying their stuff any more, I wasn't quite clear on why. So it won't be there at all.

Alameda is the gold mine for at least regular BCBS apparently.

Regular isn't hard to find, all the BevMos had cases and cases. It's the variants that aren't anywhere.

Also, FWIW, this is definitely my least favorite batch fresh. Just not particularly good. It's really too bad that GI seems to have ruined this beer by scaling it so far.

I had the variants I had on tap in Ohio and they were all syrupy. I agree, worst batch I've had based on tap version.

I haven’t been to Broadway Liquors in Oakland, and prob won’t since they upcharge with the best of them, but they might get some variants. Seems like regular won’t be difficult to come across. Can confirm WF downtown had cases of regular as of this past Monday.

There are tons of cases of regular and northwoods at the whole foods on California & Franklin that are not really moving if anyone is looking for some. The beer buyer there is mean to me so I refuse to buy from him (petty, I know). Have at it y'all.

FYI, The Market in SF had regular, BW, and the weird one newly-stocked as of a few hours ago. (That store has a great beer aisle. The rare stouty stuff tends to be off to the side, close to the cheese counter.) They’re also getting 3F A&G next week. And the WF on 4th had cases of regular.

Cases of regular 3F OG or regular BCBS? Please be specific in my inbox thank you

Sometime around the last week of May this year, Total Wine locations in Walnut Creek, Pleasanton and Fremont got a case (or more?) of Vanilla Rye as kickback from ABInBev. It was 1pp but the usual bay area mule lords were out in force.

Like 2014 VR?

didn't Total Wine in Pleasanton open just like a month ago or something though? I'm actually kinda stoked about it because the prices seemed to be decent the one time I have been so far.

Well this is the first I'm hearing of it, so clearly it wasn't very widely known. It also doesn't change the fact that we get utterly shafted on variants every year.

I'm not 100% on which locations were open at the time but there was definitely VR in Fremont and other Total Wines in the East Bay.

How do people hear about this stuff in the first place?

I learned via random IG browsing.

It's probably not as big of a deal anymore since the last several years of Bourbon County variants have been less than stellar. Certainly not the same, but at the 2015 Beer Rev migration day (were you there stupac2?) they were pouring and raffling VR and 15 Rare. Pretty sure those events will no longer be happening.

Well, sure, the beer apparently starting to suck takes some of the sting out of it. It's still annoying as the East Bay gets pretty ******.

I was not there in 2015. I believe I went in 2014, but unless I'm misremembering they didn't have any bottles for sale, just stuff on tap.
