Oh damn, I didn't even think we were going to get any. Anyone see it closer to Oakland/Berkeley?
Bare Bottle is good. The rest are...not.I'll be in SF after Christmas and besides Cellarmaker and Almanac, are any of these breweries actually good? Also, I hear Anchor now has a public taproom?

I'm also planning on Smuggler's Cove and, if we have time, Pagan Idol.

Some damn good stores, too.Cellarmaker is leagues above everything else on that list (funny how Bartlett Hall got overlooked which I'd recommend in a pinch if you're in the Union Square area).
To make beer you need space and SF commercial real estate is $$$$$.
SF is not a brewery town, it's a drinking town. My advice is to skip the breweries and hit the bars which are world class.
Wracking my brain for a beer worth biking to danville for.... coming up empty. More for ppl with a car.Bevmo Danville got 40 bottles of CBS today if anyone wants to GPIUFMB
Mikkeller had some pours left. Tasted like a better KBS with a pinch of maple. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯Is CBS any good if you find KBS super underwhelming? I hope it doesn't just taste like KBS with OMG MAPLE added.

That list is pretty much is every SF brewery. Local is the only one coming to mind that isn't on that list. When I moved here, there was only Anchor, Thirsty Bear, Magnolia (either location is worth a stop IMO), Speakeasy, and 21st Amendment, so things have gotten better FWIW.It’s been two years since the last time I’ve visited, but I haven’t heard of most of the breweries on that list. I’m surprised Eater made such a bad list, or maybe they were just listing every SF brewery? There aren’t a ton.
My usual spots are Cellarmaker and Toronado, and I enjoy many divier spots all over town (Zeitgeist, Bender’s, Latin American Club, Molotov’s, Tempest).
I’ve been looking up newer spots and cocktail spots. The owners of Old Devil Moon came into my work and were really great, so I’m going to check them out. I may also check out cocktail spots like Trick Dog or Whitechapel or Agricole? Any favorites in particular?
I can only speak for myself, but I had CBS on tap at least twice before the first bottling and didn't find it mind blowing or anything, but fresh and at under 6 months it was ******* magical out of the bottle. Had one in Feb this year and it was utter trash. Maple and coffee gone and a muddled barrel flavor with a hint of mint of all things. I'll never understand why people age those kinds of stouts.Mikkeller had some pours left. Tasted like a better KBS with a pinch of maple. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Agreed. Both good beers, but I'd rather fux with that good conductGood Conduct is the maple bomb you're looking for.

Anchor has a new spot called Public Taps right by the brewery. Probably worth a visit, too, but I haven't been yet. They've been experimenting a lot in the last few years and many have been misses, but I still think they're good at the standards and it's prob at least a cool space.
"Pretty much" was a bit of a stretch but Bartlett Hall (big omission by me and the linked list) is probably the only one in your post that's really worth sending an out-of-towner to. I've never even heard of Standard Deviant and FDR, but would be pleasantly surprised if they rise above the mediocrity of your standard SF brewery that isn't Cellarmaker/Bartlett/Bare Bottle. It's not every SF brewery, and it's quite odd actually who they include. Off the top of my head, they are missing Bartlett Hall (already mentioned), Triple Voodoo, F.D.R., Standard Deviant, Local, Social, and Seven Stills. I'm not saying all of those places are awesome breweries, but they are definitely better than some places on the list.
The Anchor Public Taps is fine, but I agree with you that the best beers Anchor makes are their classics like Steam, OSA, Porter, and Liberty. It's cool to get them fresh, but if you are looking for something exciting or inventive, go elsewhere.
Don't forget Laughing Monk!"Pretty much" was a bit of a stretch but Bartlett Hall (big omission by me and the linked list) is probably the only one in your post that's really worth sending an out-of-towner to. They're legit? Honestly, I've been meaning to get there but haven't yet.Don't forget Laughing Monk!
They are not legit. They're legit? Honestly, I've been meaning to get there but haven't yet.
The good Doctor is correct. For once. They are not legit.
I have only correct opinions. The good Doctor is correct. For once.
BevMo on Van Ness had 4 cases of CBS on the shelf back in late November, no restrictions.
I passed.
