This is flat-out not true. Having more "not bad" breweries means the good ones will be less crowded and annoying to go to for those of us with taste. No, it's not really that bad. I'm more just kind of poking fun at it because if there's one thing this area--and this state--doesn't need, it's one more "not that bad" brewery. Though I guess this isn't really a new brewery, just a duplicate of an existing one.

Ditto about the cauliflower. A guy I went to high school with is one of (maybe their only?) brewerI enjoyed my one and only stop there. Deep fried cauliflower and buffalo sauce. But I'm weird.
Is Alvarado Street (Monterey location) good for well-behaved babies? Asking for myself.
that does sound goodI enjoyed my one and only stop there. Deep fried cauliflower and buffalo sauce. But I'm weird.
I'm psyched.Yes! Nice downtown spot. Food tables and nice people
Well you're in luck, since Gilman should be opening soon. Maybe it'll suck a few people away from Fieldwork. Then it's only a matter of time before they get sued by Alesmith. This is flat-out not true. Is that the old Pyramid spot? What's opening there?Well you're in luck, since Gilman should be opening soon. Maybe it'll suck a few people away from Fieldwork. Then it's only a matter of time before they get sued by Alesmith.
No, that's still empty and looks like it will be for awhile, based on when I walked by a few weeks ago.Is that the old Pyramid spot? What's opening there?
I don't know what any of this means, but I temporarily thought you meant Gilman the guy (who is an old-time bay area guy) was opening a brewery and I was very happy.Well you're in luck, since Gilman should be opening soon. Humphry Slocombe is opening there, though I don't know if it's just production or a shop too. IIRC it'll be split into a few different things. Is that the old Pyramid spot? What's opening there?
Cool. HS is solid ice cream.I don't know what any of this means, but I temporarily thought you meant Gilman the guy (who is an old-time bay area guy) was opening a brewery and I was very happy.

That is comically brazen, even for beer. Not as far as I know. Just a new brewery that is located on Gilman Street. And then was making a joke about this:

Can't wait for them (and whatever fanboys they have) to be SHOCKED that Alesmith would bully them in such an unchill manner. That is comically brazen, even for beer.

I could give these guys a pass if they were using similar (*cough* the same *cough*) branding and artwork as some small brewery on the opposite side of the country that most people had never heard of. But holy hell. Have you never been to a bar or a beer shop, or even a grocery store beer aisle in your own state before?
I look forward to Tony Magee's poorly-formed Twitter rant whenever he discovers that logo.Similarly, you guys see this new brewery out of Suisun City (basically Fairfield)?

LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL good luck w/ the lawsuit guys.
I believe they were originally supposed to be called Anvil Brewing and changed the name, but for some reason still kept the same logo as Alesmith.I could give these guys a pass if they were using similar (*cough* the same *cough*) branding and artwork as some small brewery on the opposite side of the country that most people had never heard of. I'm not a trademark lawyer, or any other type of lawyer for that matter, but two interesting points to consider:I believe they were originally supposed to be called Anvil Brewing and changed the name, but for some reason still kept the same logo as Alesmith.
LOVE POKE SO MUCH. Yes!Eat at Poke Lab, beers at Alverado. You're welcome.
Also the ahi tuna ceviche at Lallapalooza is pretty good too.
Hey all. The wife and I leave for our trip out there next Friday, can't wait! I booked reservations at State Bird Provisions and Frances back in August thanks to the recs of the kind folks in this thread, but due to life being pretty crazy I've been out of the TB/beer loop for over a month or so. Any upcoming releases and/or cool spots to check out in general that I should be on the lookout for? We'll be in SF the 14th-17th before heading to Napa.
I was pumped that the Giants beat the Mets last night...hopefully they can somehow take out the Cubs so that they're still alive while we're out there!
Nice score on both of those reservations.
Cellarmaker's 3rd Anniversary will be at the tail end of your trip.
"Our 3rd Anniversary Celebration will begin on October 11th and continue throughout the week with beers coming out each day. The celebration will culminate on Saturday, October 15th. We've stashed away vintage kegs and will also be debuting a few new beers. There will be a rotating Vastness line throughout the week where a new keg is replaced as each variant kicks. There's the final keg in existence of Bourbon Barrel Imperial Coffee and Cigarettes for Saturday too. Stay tuned."
Previous years, lots of good drafts and growler fills each day. Not sure what else is happening, SARA is always a wonderful drive down the coast and stop if time allows. But there is plenty of beer and fun to be had in the City during that time.
