In the case of MT they use an exaggerated bill-and-ted tone in all their marketing
In general, my time living among the bros in PB have made me less annoyed at MT than most (it's a nice change from the standard metal and/or hipster imo). Comparing to Bill and Ted though? Now I may actually love it. Definitely reading everything from now on in their tone, gonna be rad!

POINT LOMA FUNK SAISON TEAM RULES!!!

Also: Untrue.

SNL just doesn't really know what to do with him.

didn't think those were funny, I don't know when the first one came out but it reminds me of the speech by Alan in the hangover. I don't even know why SNL hired him in the first place. Kyle Mooney and Pete Davidson are just not funny to me.

Cool story Lorne.

Hey all, pardon the interruption - a friend of a friend is currently transitioning through a divorce and needs a room/place for rent, especially on the Santa Cruz side of the hill (Scott's valley?)

If any of you have a room for let, shoot me a message. Nice dude, and offers to DD.

Edit: here's his CL add

Toronado Anniversary this Saturday! We'll have Sante Adairus West Ashley on draft, a vintage Cable Car on draft (and some vintage bottles), a limited number of Toronado 25th Anniversary bottles, Beechwood Mocha Machine, a vintage keg from Rare Barrel, Rodenbach Alexander, Societe Coachmen, Cellarmaker Coffee and Cigarettes, Cascade Elderberry and more. And BBQ from Slow Hand at some point. See you then!

Was in Portland over the weekend, drank the entire lineup at Cascade, did not leave mad. Elderberry was pretty good!

Some of the stuff on draft was face splittingly and mono-culturally sour (kriek, etc), but there were a few that were really quite good. Sang Royal reminded me strongly of Consecration, and their live barrel beers were both really good. Can't remember the name of the black/red raspberry one, but I'd drink that one daily if I could. Tasted like fresh Atrial!

Would I buy bottles regularly? No - mostly because of the NASCAR-esque lettering. ;)

At the source, Cascade is shockinly awesome. The beers are reasonably priced and as you mentioned, they're not all crazy single-tone sour. It's like the complete opposite of a bottle from a store.

Yeah the noyeaux on tap was wildly good. Still haven't opened the bottle I bought... 2 years ago?

Opened a 2011 burbonic plague recentlythat was a little balsamic scary on the nose but actually very nice and Uncascadian in its complexity.

...in another thread, dudes are bagging on de Garde.
I guess this is a thing now? Was at a place this week where dudes all popped a bottle of sucre bruin and sat around talking about how unimpressive it was? Weird.

I dunno, I've thought that the general love for De Garde has needed a correction for a while now. In some respects they're like Mikkeller, when you make 10,000 different beers a year yeah, there's gonna be some great ones. The main difference is that De Garde's average is "pretty good" compared to Mikkeller's "what the **** were they thinking?" But if you get a random sampling of their stuff you're just as likely to get Jose Hose as something amazing.

Maybe this is coming from the fact that I've had a number of, to be frank, just bad De Garde bottles rotting in fridge for a while now, and judging them off of Jose Hose and some random dark beer whose name I forget is like judging SARA off of Professor Ron and Farmhouse Noir (though at least Farmhouse Noir is a pretty good beer!). But to hear some people around here say it De Garde's cow farts don't stink, and that's just not true.

I won't argue this point although if we are being real what hot **** brewery is this not true about? i know hype is nebulous but I can't think of 1...
Based on what I see on TB? I dunno, most of the local ones here seem pretty appropriate. I think DG got a lot of extra push on here because the owner was active for a while and is clearly of our kind, so people were more willing to overlook the gushers, the sulfur, and the clunkers.

Sang Noir really impressed me when we opened a 2012 a few months ago. The bourbon character was surprisingly well integrated. Bourbon barrel aged sours/wilds never strike me as terribly appealing, but they did a great job with that one.

I think their pricing and under the radar approach endears themselves a lot to our types.

Yeah that too, though the fact that they're in the middle of ******** nowhere mitigates that somewhat. Then again, the fact that you can make the drive and come back with cases and cases of beer makes that hurt less.

Also, beer nerds don't tend to factor time/car expenses much.

Got a pal over at the Crooked Goat opening tonight in Sebastopol. (Its right by woddfour).
His very helpful review is "pretty good"
Crowlers of everything except the DIPA.
Stopped in today while in the area. Nice space. They are already pouring 15 different beers. Tried samples of the Rove IPA (Mosaic/Galaxy); Ibex IPA (Citra/Simcoe/Amarillo); and Silver Lining Vanilla Bean Stout. The Rove IPA tasted a little old. Wondering if it sat around while they brewed some of the other beers. The Ibex was okay. Tasted fresher than the Rove. The stout was good and the clear winner. Will return in a few months to see how they are progressing.
