Public transportation is for jerks and lesbians.

Plus there's nothing more liberating than not having a car.

Anyone that doesn't hate driving clearly doesn't have to do it that much.

**** man, the option of fighting through endless soul sucking traffic (god forbid you drive a stick - clutch, break, clutch, gas, clutch, break), circling around looking for parking, ******** and self righteous ******** on the road, hefty tickets and associated insurance bumps, remembering to move your car so you don't get a street cleaning ticket, expensive ass insurance that gets even more expensive if you actually use it probably more than enough to offset how much you actually needed it, the "if I have another beer, will I still be okay to drive?" conundrum

or

Get a bike and a Clipper card. Worst case scenario, you have to wait a bit before a train comes to take you wherever you want to go. ******* BART commuters complaining drives me up the ******* wall. Oh really, was your BART commute hard because you couldn't get a seat while you read your phone while someone else drove you home? You were just sitting for eight ******* hours, your body wants you to stand!

Man, **** having a car in the bay area.

Driving kicks ass. Removing economic considerations or the real evil corroborated at the pump - few joys are greater than a nice long drive, a couple of your favorite albums and some time with my thoughts.

Sometimes I wish my commute was longer. Im working in Oakland today. Love it.
Sure, a traffic free drive up the coast can be therapeutic, but 99.99% of my miles are driving from Oakland to Redwood City. I keep getting up earlier and earlier and now leave the house at 5:30am and there is STILL stop and go traffic in Hayward and on the San Mateo bridge. Grueling traffic before twilight ***** with your mental state.

I hear ya man, **** all that noise. I mean, I have two vehicles, but I walk 2 blocks to work by design. I'm just blown away by some of my friends who commute 2-3 hours a day. Nonetheless, vehicles have freedom potential, but yes, sometimes we get tethered to them instead.

For me, its like Kanye said, "having a vehicle isn't everything, not having it is."

It's not like BART is problem-free, massive delays happen. Fortunately for me they're mostly going into the city, but they can still impact me. Being an hour late to work because the idiots who designed BART used all-custom everything is stupid.

Also, the one gate I can take my bike through at my station has been broken all year. I've e-mailed with BART operations and they have no idea why. Infuriating.

For sure. With car commuting, you at least have alternate options when things go haywire. When BART goes down, you are pretty much screwed.

Now I'm realizing I mixed up matedog with you in terms of a 2 year old owe-ya-a-beer bet. Oh well, hit me up if you see me around.

I'm take care of, but just learned a friend of mine is looking for some CM cans. Anyone who works in downtown able to assist?

Getting a new car with active cruise control has made driving in traffic so much better. Its literally night and day, I no longer care about/fear traffic.

Anyone want to drive a bus for a living?current biggest issue in Bay Area transit is that bus operators do not have enough drivers to fulfill the scedule that is meant to out on the streets.

Pick your agency. None of us have enough drivers. And guess what. google is hiring 100 drivers at $28/h you think and transit agency pays that for a driver? Not even a conversation

BART, CalTrain, AC Transit, and Muni would like a word with you about your claim of the biggest transit issues in the bay area

I aint even going there on Bay Area transportation needs versus funding or need or want or whatever.

You want better than current?

Current is not actually funded. You want better?

Okay!

AC are 50+ drivers down. muni are down over a 100 down. Not an operator in Northern California who is not missing runs.

Driver shortage is THE issue with bus transit.

Promise.

Full disclosure. I am the AGM of a medium sized bus agency. I am one of the 28 Bay Area transit agencies.

I have a perspective on Bay area transit. Happy to engage.

It seems I will disagree with some of you. All good.

That said I can likely play Devils Advocate ,or at least provide conext/ prospective.

Meet me at Slowhand in PH some weeknight evening (not Tomorrow or Monday) to discuss ways Contra Costa can better serve our transit systems and I will do my part. Not joking. Message me and we can schedule something. Buy you a Pig for your time.

I will happily chat. I serve West Contra Costa and come into Martinez. But I talk with agencies across the Couunty daily.

If you wanna chat about this I am always open. I believe I can fill in some details about how transit works, rather than how it Should work. There are a lit of restrictions and issues to complicate how it SHOULD work. Believe me. I deal with them daily.

I no longer live out that way. So happy to chat PM if you want.

I taken county connection earlier today and it wasn’t that bad I think. The times were horrendous tho but it serves its purpose for an area where mainly everyone drives compared to SF or Oakland. I live out in Brentwood tho and public transit is ******* horrible even though we got clean af luxury air conditioned buses that run empty all day cause the routes are *****

You laugh but us and AC Transit will have Double Decker’s on the road late summer. 80+ seats on each trip heading across the Bay each day.

They are a little bit of an upgrade from your pic, cost a smidgen more also.
What lines? I know quite a few people who take NX/NL.
