I'm a little confused by Hoppy Birthday. All I can taste is pure bitterness. The only hoppy/floral character I can detect is in the aroma. Is it just me? I'm not even complaining, I'm just perplexed. Maybe my taste buds are miscalibrated today.

People are entirely too harsh on GF. These guys are small, up and comer new jacks. It's crazy to expect them to instantly dial in recipes in the blink of 2 years.

Eh, the stuff I've had is better than anyone's making up here. (Note: I am not a huge fan of Cellarmaker's IPAs. They are all good, none are great.)

Different strokes I guess. I can think of probably 10-20 Cellarmaker IPA's I would order over a Nelson these days.

I think I may have posted this over in the other sandbox, but I had Hoppy Birthday on Sunday and it was undrinkable. It tasted almost like pure soap to me. I had just finished with some Thai food nearby, including a Thai iced tea, so maybe that caused a palate effect. Still, it was gross.

They still charged me for it, though - I'll never return to the Albany Taproom.
