I was wondering if roasted barley was the same as black non-malted barley. My recipe called for roasted barley and all the brew shop had was "black" non-malted roasted barley. The guy said this was the same and could be used as the same. I was unsure but I ended up getting it anyway. I thought the "black" barley was used for porters and stouts? Will there be much difference and should I use it? It is for a "raspberry" fruit beer recipe I found on here and wanted to try. Doesnt seem right....any suggestions??

It is true that they are both non-malted but black is much darker; 300L for roasted, 500L for black, and yes, they are most often used in porters and stouts.
