Hello, I'm kind of a new brewer. I brewed a few batches but a looong time ago. I wanted to get back into it and made a Brewer's Best Robust Porter. I kept it in the primary for one week. My OG was 1.054 and after a week I moved to a secondary when the SG was 1.012. After being in the secondary for a week I bottled. The gravity hadn't changed from 1.012. I ended up with a 4.5 gallon batch and added 4.5 oz of corn sugar for priming. After letting it condition in the bottle for two weeks there is barely any carbonation. It hisses when I open it but there is no head and you can barely feel/taste the carb. If I leave it sit for another week, is there any chance that it will continue to carb or is the carb I have now, the only carb i'll get?

1) What is the temperature of the area where you are storing the bottles? Are they somewhere at room temp (~70*F), or are they in a fridge?

2) I usually wait 3 weeks after bottling before testing one. Sometimes 2 weeks just isn't enough time. I say let them sit another week before you worry about. After another week, put one in the fridge for a day, and then try it.

I have them in approx. 72 degrees (up or down a degree depending on the time). I only tried one...i'll let sit for another week before I start worrying. Thanks for your fast replies!!

If it's a porter, it will take longer to carb up properly.
I usually let my darker beers that I bottle prime sit at room temp for 4 weeks before popping one. If I pop one before that timeframe of 4 weeks bottle conditioning, 99% of the time, it's under carbed.
Just my experience with the darker brews.
