I recently purchased an SS unitank and I’m using it for the first time. I have a 5 gallon batch going currently and I just realized I need another tri clamp to barb fitting to do my pressure transfer.

The out post connector on my keg appears to be 1/4 inch barb. Do I need need to use a 1.5 tc to 1/4” barb for the pressure transfer? That just seems like a really small size.

Also, do you guys disconnect your hoses from your barbs every time to clean? Or do you clean then as they are with the hose connected? It seems that If I disconnect any of the hoses from the barb, that portion of the hose is ruined, or at least looks rough.

Is there a better way to go about all this? I’m a new all grain brewer and this is the first time I’ve used the tank and will be the first time I’ve ever kegged.

I have a TC to Ball-lock liquid post hardware (from brewhardware) to allow use of a ball-lock to ball-lock jumper hose. I use that BL jumper in pushing cleaner, rinse, and starsan for preparing kegs up front of kegging.

Otherwise, I use TC to cam-lock hardware (also from brewhardware) for moving wort, CIP, and sanitizing solutions around (using my all purpose cam-lock tubing).

I generally don’t like single use tubing, but have general flare tubing (for beer, cleaning, sanitizing keg side), and Camlock tubing (for wort, cleaning, sanitizing cold side)

I use a 1.5" TC x 3/8" barb, then some 5/16" ID racking tubing, then to a black ball lock connector that is fitted with a 3/8" barbed FFL on it. I don't remove the hose from the barbs, I just coil it all up on my starsan bucket for a few minutes.
