I'm brewing a saison and pitched WLP566 from a starter about 16 hours ago. Fermentation is going strongly and things look and smell well generally.

There is a band of stringy growth around the inside of my carboy, about two thirds of the way up the column of beer. It forms a ring 2 - 3 inches all around the carboy but doesn't show up anywhere else.

It looks like it may be yeast clumping there, but it looks different from the flocculated clumps floating around. It's more ephemeral than the yeast clumps - like thinned out cotton. Anyone seen this before?

I'm relaxed, drinking a homebrew, etc.

I had a small concern it was something else, so thanks for the feedback, but either way I thought the shape was interesting. I wonder what causes it to be a ring only within that vertical zone. Maybe it's gravity/density related since it's all around the same depth.

I had some streaks of yeast in a batch with WLP670 do that. Kept painting itself to various lines inside the carboy. It settled down on its own.
