Hey guys, I am going to be on a week long business trip in June. I am headed to Balitmore. I work for Constellation Energy's Western Region. I was just wondering if there were any good brewpub/mirobrew spots in the Baltimore area. Let me know, maybe meet up. I dont have a problem buying a round for a fellow HBT bud.

You have anything more specific than "Baltimore area"? There are something outside of the city but getting around can suck depending on the time of day.

I will be at the Maritime Institute for most of each day, but my hotel will most likely be closer to downtown. So I would say, mostly between the 95 and the airport.

Max's taphouse is a decent place to go and have a beer. I have never had their food so I can't say anything about that.

Capitol City has a brewpub in the inner harbor. A lot of people really like it but I wasn't too impressed. I have only been there once a few years ago so it may have changed since.

Cap City inner harbor closed a few years ago. :(

Erik, I used to work for CEG. I can put you in touch with some beer geeks in the corporate security dept who can steer you well.

I second Max's. Closer to you in the harbor would be Pratt Steet Ale house (formerly Wharf Rat Pub). I would check out most of the hole in the walls on the corners. Almost every corner has bar of their own and most have micro's on tap. Examples: MaHaffey's, Baltimore tap house,

Fells Point and Canton can be fun too. Not necessarily great for beer but they have tons of bars within just a couple blocks.

Not sure if it's still there as I haven't been back in a few years, but Fells point you gotta hit up The Blarney Stone. Best damn juke box in the city, IMHO.

BTW, not the greatest selection of beers but the atmosphere is great.

Definitely check out Max's, and pretty much any part of Fell's Point (although if you're at Max's - I see NO reason to go anywhere else).

Give a PM when you're coming in to town if you want to have a few drinks and a slice down at BOP! (Brick Oven Pizza)

DuClaw's is decent but not spectacular.

Ryleigh's used to brew on site but their beer was declining last time I was around. They are in Federal Hill and now they list themselves as an Oyster Bar, so who knows? Good place in the 2002-2005 time frame.

Looks like Red Brick Station is still around in White Marsh. They were pretty solid.

google clipper city brewery, i know they are in Baltimore but i'm not sure if they have a taphouse or anything attached.

ouch....BOP.....ha...never cared much for their pizza. Guess its because I am originally from NY/NJ area and no one beats their pizza's

As far as I know, Duclaw Fed Hill is gone.

Red Brick Station is just bad. Not even tolerable.

Yeah....its ashame...when I first came down here Red Brick Beers were really good. I don't know what they did to change them, but as of lately they are horrible. DuClaw in Fell's not Federal hill, but gone nonetheless.

Yeah, Fells/Fed Hill...it's all the same to me. I'm in Harco.

Thanks again guys, keep the spots coming if you find some more. I really want to get into some of the east coast brews. I want to get a feel the styles over there. Being from the west coast, if find it fun tasting other areas brews.

Well, it is official. I will be in Baltimore on June 6th and be staying there until June 12. Send me a PM or reply if you want to meet up for a brew somewhere.:mug:
