I've been brewing on an electric brew kettle for about 18 months now. No issues what so ever. I wanted to clean it today w/an oxyclean soak at 170 F. Heated like normal. When my PID read 166 the temp reading dropped in an instant to 135 on my PID. I grabbed my thermometer and it read 166. I didn't touch a thing on my setup. I let it go to see what would happen. Temp continued to rise but remained about 30 degrees low. Anybody else ever have this happen? Is it a simple recalibration or do I have another issue?

*Note-i realize temp control isn't too important on my BK for my current setup, but I'm trying to buy parts to piece together a full electric system. Therefore, I'm wanting to take care of this issue as in time I'm hoping this PID is part of a bigger system.

Its likely your prob either has a short or damage in the wiring or the probe itself... if you wiggle the wires going into the plug or at either end does the temp jump around?
