Northern Nevada saying HEY !!!!

The wife wanted to try brewing so, I got her a starter kit. That makes her the "newb", & I'm the "Assistant Newb" Damn have we got a lot to learn... looking forward to the journey with you good folks.

Thanks in advance

Tim

Enjoy the journey down the rabbit hole! Welcome to the forum! Feel free to ask any questions, but try to search for it first b/c there is a plethora of information here. Cheers!

Welcome to HBT!

Read and learn, ask questions where you haven't found the answer.

If you're serious about learning how to brew, I can recommend buying How to Brew by John Palmer, the latest, 4th Ed.

Welcome Anylizer. I'm new here, too, and hope you get as much from this forum as I have.
I've gone from terror of brewing to a successful beer maker just since January thanks to this site.
All the best to you the assistant and your wife!

Hi All!! Finally joining in on the fun! Thanks to my "Assistant Newb" this should be a fun journey! We are already having fun traveling and trying different beers, so why not make our own concoctions!

Welcome and hello. What a fun way to hang out together. If you don't have a copy of "How to Brew" yet I would highly suggest checking it out. Really informative. Good forward to seeing some of your brew pics around. Cheers!

You can read the original for free online but I would 100% recommend buying the newest.

Nothing beats having the hardcopy to look up when needed.

Other than "The joy of homebrewtalk" I would also recommend "radical brewing" and "Brew like a monk" depending on what beer styles you like.

Edit: Also welcome you two! Part of me wishes I could get the wife into homebrewing (but then I would have to share I guess), so I have gotten my daughter as my assistant.

I second the recommendation for the hard copy. The 4th edition is well worth the money.

Happy to see tour future brews posted on here. Simce your from Northern Nevada, if you have a recommendation for The Depot I’d love to hear it. Recently had The Bishop..and WOW! Show stopper and floor dropper.

If my wife brewed I would probably brew more for myself. I’m glad that I have a supporter and critic. I enjoy making beers that she will drink. This is the reason that banana wine is not in my near future, but I’m okay with that. Brew what you like. Like what you brew.

What an amazing forum! Thanks!! Things like the suggestions and overall support is going to make this adventure that much more fun!

Shout out to my Assistant Newb who is in the process of building me a fermenting chamber (FC).

Looks good. Additionally the acronyms just get outta control here, and that's coming from a guy who works in IT...

I'm not sure what you are referencing, as far as "The Depot" & "The Bishop" ????

The Depot is a brewery in Reno, Nv. They sell an imperial nut brown called the Bishop thats 16%abv.

IC! We are 5 hours East. So now I have a destination!!
Awesome! Been through that neck of the desert headed towards Idaho and had friends that lived in Orovada for some time.

Reno has many great breweries popping up. Certainly worth checking out next time your out that way. Apparently the Brussel Sprouts are good enough to convince 3 random people i’ve met to rave about them. Have fun with your future brews and don’t forget..it’s probably not an infection. :)
