Assistant Brewer Needed near Denali National Park, Alaska: 49th State Brewing Company

Starts Immediately April through October 2016

Job Requirements
• Degree in Fermentation Science or completion of brewing-science program OR experience in a production brewery or brewpub - OR be so passionate that you get a conversation with our head brewer and convince him you can bring serious skills to the table.
• Flexible work schedule: day, night and weekend shifts

Duties and Responsibilities
• Strong communication, planning, and organizational skills
• Assisting head brewer in all aspects of brewing ales and lagers
• Performing accurate accounting of inventory
• Perform accurate cellar readings with detailed notes
• Preparing kegs and grain for shipping/receiving
• CIP of all vessels including brewhouse, fermenters, bright tanks and kegs
• Following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure employee safety
• Cellaring duties including bottling and keg filling
• Harvesting yeast aseptically
• Performing cellar transfers
• Making repairs and perform preventive maintenance on all brewery equipment
• Maintaining a clean and safe work area for employees and guests
• Working independently and handle multi-tasking with precision
• Line Cleaning of in-house draft lines
• Pouring and representing our beer at festivals/events if necessary
• Must be willing to pitch in on tasks outside your key responsibilities

Abilities and Skills
• Must be able to lift 165 lb kegs and move 55lb grain bags consistently
• Must be able to stand for long periods of time
• Must be able to work in a noisy, wet environment
• Must be able to live in a remote Alaskan environment
• Must be competent with MS Office, Google Docs
• Must be able to operate a forklift (training provided)
• Must be able to enjoy making great beer!

The Denali location operates on a seasonal basis, like most of the businesses in the area. Our brewery in Denali runs on a three vessel 15BBL system.
