Artificial Flavoring?

Was in visiting in my local brewery, Bell's Brewery, in Kalamazoo and saw Artificial flavoring for Beer/Wine....

Question is, has anyone used it before? How does it compare to real ingredients?

I was planning on trying a chocolate stout and didn't know if there was any difference and/or reason I should stay away from the fake stuff

Depends on the flavor and the brand. I've read people saying they are good and others are terrible. Some say using the artificial flavor with the real fruit, etc. makes the best taste.

I've heard they are hit and miss. Definitely can overpower (read: ruin) a batch so use with caution on a small amount first.
