Any football/soccer fans out there? I'm a die hard Arsenal fan, and we are playing one of the best teams in the world today, Barcelona.

Barcelona has many of the players from the Spain World Cup team that won the most recent World Cup, so it should be a GREAT game. It's on Fox Soccer Channel here in the States if anyone is interested.

Go Arsenal!

Love soccer, but there's no way Arsenal stands a chance against Barca. Messi hat-trick today. :D

Ft Lauderdale......hmmm, let's see. Who in the hell did I play youth soccer for when in Ft. Lauderdale? Darn, can't think of it. Used to go to all the Striker games and a few Practices. As a kid I would knock the ball around with Gerd Muller and Nene Cubillas.

I'm from Atlanta, don't know about the youth soccer scene here. I'm not very good at playing soccer, just a fan of watching it. My wife played college soccer.

I will watch good soccer. This game should qualify as such.

But honestly, it is the best game in the world to play and when played at the very top level it is the most beautiful game to watch. Unfortunately, most soccer is not very good and almost impossible to watch. Like the MSL for example.

You mean the MLS? :cross:

Yea, I totally agree. I only watch English Premier League and Champion's League regularly.

I love watching soccer, but unfortunately, the Champions league is not on ESPN3. Boooo only gamecasts for me.

I disagree about MLS. I think there games stand up with world soccer pretty well. As with all the leagues they have a different style, but it is still good to watch and getting better.

I am pretty partial the the Prem and Bundesliga though...

I usually only watch soccer during the world cup and when my girlfriend's dad has it on at dinner.

On the other hand I play 3 times a week.

I completely disagree. When I was 16 living in the DC area, I played Semi-Pro ball. Some of the teams paid their players, some did not. The team I was on did not. DC United was one of the teams in our league that did. Yes, the same DC United. Most of the guys in the MLS would have a hard time making a Premier club let alone start on one.

Barca up 1 nil at the half. Arsene better be doling out grilled cheeses in the locker room if he has any hopes of beating Barca in the second half.

With respect, you were 16 years old 6-7 years before the MLS even existed. The league has been on the upswing and growing since its inception in the early 90's. Did you know that the Packers were sponsored by a meat packing company and were a semi-pro team? They just won the world championship. It isn't were you started its where you end up.

While I agree the talent is not the same as the Prem. it isn't all that far behind and the games are still very good to watch.

I'm from Brazil and live in the US for 10 years now. I can say that the MLS had improved a lot since I got here!

And Arsenal has now brought on the Munchkin. Maybe he can use some of his leprechaun magic to get a goal.

That would be easier to say if Arse(nal) weren't down at the half. :D

I know.... But not a big fan of Arsenal either... just a big fan of soccer, but the beautiful game, not the super defensive style from some European clubs and some European national teams... I'm a fan of the "jogo bonito" as we say in Brazil ;-)

I try to watch it. I find it very sloppy. I want to watch soccer players do things I couldn't. So I watch the very best. Anything short of that I find to be boring. There is the top players in the world play outside the US.

I just understand it when some people say they can't stand watching soccer. I love the game and have to agree with them most of the time.

So, who is going to Brazil for the next Cup? I am really thinking about it. Can't think of a better time to go to Brazil or a better country to see the Cup.

I would love to, but it is INSANELY expensive to fly to Brazil. I was hoping the US would get the bid for 2018, but no luck.

Yes. Brazilian Soccer. Nothing better. I have watched their under 12 and 14 national teams play here in the States. Unmatched discipline and skill. Their coach wouldn't let them 'Shoot' the ball. Everything had to be a pass, on the ground including into the back of the net. They scored 24 goals in a 40 minute game against some American team. All were passes into the back of the net except for one that was a rocket volley from some kid from 25 yards out. He got benched the rest of the game. So impressive.
