I know most prefer brown bottles to prevent skunk, but I'm making a batch that I want to be green bottled since it seems appropriate for the "special ingredient" batch that I'm making. I don't intend to expose the beers to sunlight. But, I've been having a hard time finding them anywhere new. I saw the Grolsch bottles, but I don't need the fancy swing-tops, and they are very pricey. I can buy Heineken or Rolling Rock and scrub the labels if necessary, but I'd rather just buy bulk empty bottles if I can get them at a decent price.

Any help you can provide would be great.

My apologies if this has been asked many times, I tried searching with no luck.

How many do you need? I know a supplier who can probably get you them, but minimum ordeer would be 1000 or so. and they would probably be around .20 each. so thats over 200 bucks. im about to order a thousand 22 ounce aluminum screwcaps from him. just because we are lazy and dont want to clean bottles for the next year and a half.

A better idea would probably be to go to a local beer focused bar and see if they will set them aside for you.

Hmm, yeah, I'm just doing 5 gallons, so that would be extreme overkill. Hmmm. I wouldn't mind buying beer and drinking it so much if it wasn't Heineken. Rolling Rock is even worse.

Anyway, thanks for the tips.

well I think theres a link on the byo website to a bottle company that makes grolsch style bottles. they may have them in green.

Don't know what state you are in, but here in NY we have recycling centers. That's where I get my bottles when I need them.
