This christmas we'll be visiting my sister in law in portland, we're contemplating a day trip out to the Rogue brewery. Their website says they offer daily tours around 4 PM. Has anyone been out there? Is it worth a 4-5 hour round trip drive?

Of course, you could have lunch at Golden Valley in McMinneville, tour Rogue for dinner and finish the evening at Pelican Brewpub in Pacific City.

The Portland area has so many breweries that you can tour and have just a good, often times better beer. I'd make sure to check out Upright brewery and tasting room, McMenamins Roadhouse, and the Green Dragon/Buckman Brewery (owned by rogue) if you are looking for breweries with good viewing pleasure. If you are looking for great tap rooms Bailey's taproom or Apex are the best. But, there are so many microbreweries (laurelwood, breakside, coalition, etc) and small versions of bigger breweries (deschutes, rogue, full sail) and that is just a small list.
