Has anyone ever used the commercial sanitizer that Sam's Club sells? It only costs 5 dollars and some change for a gallon.

That looks like a great find. It's quat based so just the same as Alpet D2 at a fraction of the cost. I use sanicide-94 from costco business center. I dilute mine 500:1 in 70%+ rubbing alcohol. Costco now only carries 4-packs of the sanicide so when mine expires I'll have to give that one a try.:mug:

Couple of screenshots from site with info on the product. My guess is unlike Starsan, probably need to let completely dry before filling bottles with beer?

I believe it's just 60 second contact time at least per Alpet D2. If you cut it with rubbing alcohol shouldn't be an issue.

Read a while back that quaternary sanitizers had a detrimental effect on beer foam (head), but not easily finding source. Good for external general sanitation, but perhaps should be avoided for anything with prolonged contact with the beer (like fermenters).

Good info, had not read that. I'd imagine this could also really be an issue at bars doing no-rinse on their glassware.

I assume bars shouldn't be using quat for beer glasses either. Some surely do since it's definitely a staple in commercial kitchens. I know the draft specialist suppliers (Micromatic and the like) supply bar glass sanitizers that are not quat-based.
