I love Patrone (one of the few hard liquors I drink), and was wondering, has anyone has ever tried using a blue agave extract in their homebrew?

Basic Brewing had a sugar experiment a year or so ago and one of the things they used was agave nectar/syrup. If I remember right they could not detect a noticeable taste from it. You might check their archives for the episode.

This is consistent with some of the posts from the thread I linked to above. Some people said there was a faint taste from the agave. No accounts of a bold flavor by anyone. The majority of the compounds in the nectar must ferment out.
