Looking for an easy way to make a starter, and divide up to freeze yeast.

South Hills Brewing and it's sister store Country Wines are my LHBS. I don't have experience using the kit but I have seen it in the store and it looks like it would be handy. The tubes and plastic container are both pretty standard stuff. I'm just not sure what the Freeze-Shield is and I never really thought to ask (a glycerine solution maybe?).
