Was chilling a 10 gallon batch of Scotch Ale today and i noticed that that there was a trail of bubbles coming through on the out side of the plate chiller.

Everything was tight on my fittings.

Question is if i had an air pocket in the chiller could i have gotten hot side aeration.

Anyone ever have this problem and how did it turn out?

Thanks

Chris

I believe that hot aeration is more of an urban legend since hot wort/water doesn't physically have the ability to hold much air. I wouldn't worry a bit about that.

The air is coming from somewhere, so recheck your fittings and inspect all your lines and chiller for puncture holes.
