Waited till the day before to go shopping and my LHBS does not have rice hulls for my Rye brew on MLK day. Yikes!
So I had to go the health food store and they had buckwheat hulls.

Has anyone used buckwheat hulls and lived to tell?

They sure don't look good....

Well this got my curiosity up, and honest to god there is a buckwheathulls dot com website. Why am I surprised anymore, about anything.

I can't see anywhere it is used as a food product, it's filling for pillows primarily. I doubt if it would be unhealthy but may have some off-tastes involved. Also might swell and make the sparge drain worse. For example, tossing a big hand full of psyllium husk into a mash would cement it into a big blob of gelatin.
