After searching the interwebz for a few hours I came up with a plan to add a hint of coffee to my chocolate stout. I racked it to a secondary and let it sit a few more days (I left it three weeks in the primary, OG of 1.076ish). Two days ago I added my coffee flavor using this method:
1. Pour 1 cup vodka into a mason jar
2. Add 6 oz. of whole coffee beans to the vodka (I used mocha java). This was enough to get the beans submerged a little.
3. Let the beans sit in the vodka for about 8 hours.
4. I poured off some of the vodka and made a white russian with it; it was fantastic, but you can skip this step lol.
5. Add to the secondary.
After two days I could smell coffee if I forced some bubbles through the airlock. This morning I had a taste, and it's right where I want it to be. I'll be bottling this afternoon
