Anyone bottling in 9-12 oz. glass coke bottles?

Hadn't thought about using glass coke bottles till I bought a Dr Pepper yesterday. Hmmmm great 9 oz. size for barleywines and the like. My question is will a standard capper cap them? Suppose I could go test the one I've got but I'd rather be lazy plus maybe it's a good idea for someone else also.

I don't have coke bottles, but I do have a few Jarritos bottles that are perfect size for sticking one alongside my other beer bottles when I'm bottling a batch, so I can keep track of progress with clarity and whatnot. Of course, I keep them out of the light.

I like the suggestion, MVKTR2. I am also in the market for smaller bottles for a Kriek I'm working on. I have some Full Sail Session Lager stubbies (11oz), but even those are slightly too large for the batch - I need 8-9 oz bottles!

There's no reason why the smaller Coke bottles wouldn't work. If a wing capper doesn't seal 'em, a bench capper certainly will.

The Dr Pepper bottles at least have a lip on them that makes it capable with an emily/black beauty, not sure about the coke bottles. My only concern with it is the actual size of the bottle, might it be too big to cap? Anyway I'll try it when I go in the house and share.

Thing is it's $4.75 per 6 pack so it's not like they're cheap. Though there's something about bottled Coke that's better... Yea that's my excuse!

The Old School Coke bottles were great we "canned" many gallons of tomato juice in then every summer. Not sure about the new ones let us know I would love to put some barley wine or other high gravity brew in them.

Good news! The Dr Pepper bottle caps perfectly, we're in business! If the coke bottle has the necessary lip I'm sure it will also, that or you'll need a bench capper. Now to see if the grocery store manager will cut me a deal for buying by the case

Just to throw it out there, the reason why you think Coke tastes better in glass is because these use sugar instead of high fructose corn syrup. At least that's the case with Cheerwine, and I think I checked into it with the Coke some time ago. Thanks for the good idea, btw

I have capped in the clear glass "Mexican" style coke bottles you can get some places, that have sugar rather than corn syrup. They worked fine, better than some beer bottles I have tried to cap...

The 12oz Coke bottles, which we have in our Mexican food aisle in most grocery stores here, work just fine on my wing capper. I haven't stripped the Coca-Cola inked on labels either. Probably too much work. I had been trying to keep cider and other non-malted fermented beverages in clear or green glass, to always distinguish them from beer in the pile of bottles.

Thought I'd give an update. I bottled some melomel and RIS last Thursday in 8 oz. (I had incorrectly referred to them as 9 oz. earlier) coke & dr. pepper bottles. I'll let you know how they hold up, pics coming as soon as I can find my camera.

A great benefit I've thought of is for those who are in states where it's illegal to transport homemade alcoholic beverages a nice dark bier in a cola bottle would draw no examination at all if tossed in with a couple canned drinks etc.
