So i'm using my tub as a swamp cooler with this batch of ale. The fermometer is reading 68 degrees, but as ambient temps are rising, i decided to drain the tub and add fresh cool water. After shaving and putting on deoderant this morning i got distracted and left the bathroom. i cam back to a mess. After many soaked towels and pulling up some carpet i finally left for work.

We'd been planning to put down some tile in there anyway. no time like the present. anybody else ever pull this stunt? Thinking I need to use that somehow in the name for this beer.

Never the bathtub, but it seems like I have an excellent skill of self-mind erasing when I leave the room while something is filling with water. HLT, Buckets, carboys, keggles, doesnt matter. If I leave the room for one second (and explicitly tell myself that I need to get back quick to check on it), it instantly leaves my thoughts and I come back to overflowing. Luckily this usually happens in my concrete with drain basement.

The worst mess was when I overflowed the laundry tub and ended up with 2 inches of water over the entire basement. My wife had just finished laundry and had the folded clothes in baskets on the floor. Just about every piece of clothing was soaked. Luckily she wasnt home that day. I re washed everything, re folded, mopped, and she never knew the difference. I did end up spilling the beans one night to her, but she wasnt mad.

Good point...I forgot to mention that I told myself as i walked out of the room that I was getting ready to forget what the hell I was doing. HA. Wife wasn't upset, just gave me the "your a *******" laugh and went on. If we weren't already remodeling things might be different.

BTW, as of last night she was game for me buying a fridge and temp controller in order to get the beer out of the tub!

I have flooded my brand new kitchen, twice.

Filling a carboy once, filling the sink with sanitizer for bottles the second time. The sink flooded over into a couple of drawers in the cabinets, one was the "junk drawer". That made a real mess. Tile floor makes for a quick easy cleanup though.

I think the name of the batch needs to be "Flooded Swamp Ale," with a picture of a gator surfing out of the overflowing bathtub on the label!
