Hi there,

I'm looking to get an undercounter fridge that can have a tower mounted above it (on a counter). I was curious if anybody knows if the Summit FF6BI is a candidate for this by not having any freezer lines or anything in the top of the cabinet? Anybody drill a hole in the top of one of these already that I can learn from?

Unfortunately I have not yet done this (I don't have any time pressure). I've looked at a variety of fridges online but haven't pulled the trigger on any. The one that had really caught my eye was a Marvel one: http://www.marvelrefrigeration.com/products/marvel/marvel-24-beer-dispenser.aspx. I had figured since they're doing their own top-mounted beer tap that's a good indication that their fridges might be safe to drill in through the top. I did ping them to see if I could get schematics or more details but they were not very helpful.

So I'm happy to share finds, and I do need to pick this project back up now that the holidays are past. I've contacted a couple people selling fridges on craigslist asking if they'd be willing to let me come take a look at the fridge and possibly do a corn starch test on it before committing to buying it. The couple I've asked have basically said, "uh, no." which is totally reasonable, although one guy I'm pretty sure thought I was going to come by and rob him or something (also totally reasonable given the whackos that can prowl CL). :)

What've you found so far?
