I've got an '01 Ford 7.3L Powerstroke, and it's not getting quite the mileage it used to. I've been thinking about putting a new chip in it, maybe something like this one, but I really don't know the first thing about car electronics on anything newer than ~ '59.

Can anybody tell me about this stuff, or a good site to learn. TIA

I can't speak to the mileage, but Quadzilla stuff is popular for sure. I personally would only run Banks' equipment because my brother-in-law has a pretty good professional relationship with Gayle Banks. And I know their **** is top notch.

You can throw pretty much anything at the powerstroke and not worry, awesome motor. I have used banks products in the past with good results, just make sure to get one that monitors exhaust temps and shuts itself off accordingly.

i have a 02 7.3 PSD and i love it, it has 3 inch exhaust, One of those jet performance chips that has three settings stock, medium performance and high performance, k&n intake i think it is cold air intake and a lift and 37 inch tires. I am very happy with the mileage for such a big heavy truck, up to 28 MPG on average it is 22-24 MPG freeway driving not to bad i think street driving it hovers in between 18-20 MPG. the chip upped my mileage by around 4 MPG. at higher elevations such as 6k and higher MPG drops to around 13 MPG

Second that. I have a '99 with over a quarter of a million miles on it. Wish the tranny was as bullet proof.
Only mod I have is a Superchips tuner, but thats pretty old school compared with whats out there today.
Mileage? Not an issue -when I got it, it was to use for pulling on the farm (now the farm is gone but the truck will be with me until it carries my casket) so I just try not to whimper when I stare at the fuel guage.
On the other hand, nothing quite like putting the foot down and spooling up the turbo (grin).
