I wasn't sure where to stick this thread but I was curious to see how many of you are in the aerospace industry as an engineer or something else? I'm graduating with my aerospace engineering degree in May and looking for places to apply.

I am a manufacturing engineer for Kamatics Corp., a division of Kaman Aerospace here in CT. I would say that you should apply to where ever you want to go in the country, because the commercial plane industry is set for dramatic growth over the next decade. Don't feel like you have to be married to the first job you take either. Just get into the workforce at the highest level your degree and experience will take you and gain some real world experience. This will let you learn about the industry and find out who you really want to work for. Try to get a job with an OEM, or at least a first tier supplier. If you start working at a 3rd tier supplier you may think that you got into the wrong industry! You want to work for an established company that you know makes a good profit and can treat thier employees well. Make sure you research the company you are applying to and ASK THEM A LOT OF QUESTIONS about thier business in your interview. Showing interest in the health of the company will be good for you and them. The global economy can always slow things down, but the amount of new plane designs and current push for fuel economy will keep the the aerospace industry booming for a long time.

Ha I knew at least one other person on here would be in this industry one way or another! I appreciate your advice and I will definately take it into consideration, this whole graduating and finding a job WHILE doing senior design project is a little overwhelming. But how you do in the face of adversity is what defines us! I have a career expo this thursday, getting ready for it as we speak!
