Antique cork restoration?

I found an old ceramic whiskey jug. It has a sort of unique cork. Since I don't know where to get one like it, I was wondering if anyone knows how to properly recondition a dried out cork. Do I just soak it in water?

I've got one of those.

I found that a used cork from a Belgian bottle fits great.

A Belgian beer bottle with a cage on the bottle, they are a standard size.

Try a bottle of Chimay Grand Reserve, I always enjoy it.

You are talking about a champagne style cork? Made for these bottles I assume.

You could soak it in clean non chlorine h20 like Distilled. It may come back to life. You could always use a silicone if you want to use the jug. Or I grab one off of say a whisky bottle from the market, plus you get to drink a bottle for it....Russel's Reserve 10yr has a pretty stout cork find it at Sams

I have the original soaking in an Irish whiskey. Hopefully it will restore the cork.

just an update. I soaked it for two weeks and it seems to be functional again. if it doesn't hold up I'll post again.
