My initial batch of sweet red muscadine wine turned out awesome. (Stroke of luck im certain) what can I expect the shelf life to be. I saved 2 bottles.
Wisdom appreciated!

I fermented my first batch of muscadine dry in 2009. It peaked at 5 years and was still good at 10 years. I have 1 bottle left I'm trying to save it to 15 years. I don't know if sweet would be the same or not.

The main preservatives in wine are tannins, acids, alcohol and sulphites. Higher levels of these make for extra shelf life along with good equipment sanitizing. Muscadines have good levels of tannin and acid, the rest would be how high in alcohol and total amount of metabisulphite.
