Do any particular animals like to dig up rhizomes?
I have limited space at home (no yard), but I have a nice patch of woods down the block, so I planted 3 rhizomes there. I checked on them two days ago (and yesterday), and found them dug up and tossed aside both days (I re-planted them the first day).
The reason I think it's an animal is because I put three sticks in the ground to mark where they were planted and the sticks were not touched. A kid would have pulled/kicked the sticks more than likely.
Squirrels? Cats? Any ideas?
I live close enough to this woods that I'd expect my two plants at home would be getting messed with also, but they are not.
