I ended up with a lot of homegrown nugget and cascade hops last year that I'd like to use. The problem is that I'm not a hop head. In general, I prefer beers at the lower end of their IBU range. I do like Sweet Child of Vine, though, so I have that going for me.

I'd like to use the hops in something like an amber ale. I messed around with a recipe I found on this forum to give the following. Can you critique the recipe? I'm going for something caramel-malty, with some mild hop bitterness and good hop aroma.

Recipe Type: All Grain
Yeast: 1056/WLP001
Yeast Starter: 2 qt
Batch Size (Gallons): 5.5 (into fermentor)
Original Gravity (est): 1.052
Final Gravity (est): 1.012
IBU: 32.10
Boiling Time (Minutes): 60
Color: 12.51
Primary Fermentation (# of Days & Temp): 2 weeks @ 65
Additional Fermentation: None
Secondary Fermentation (# of Days & Temp): None

I did a similar recipe but mashed higher for body to replace the dextrin ex and went with crystal 80 instead of half 60 and half 120. I just got feedback and on calculated 39 I u I was told it wasn't hoppy enough for the style. I love it so I'd say brew away.

No need for 8oz of carapils on top of 8oz of two other crystal malts. Otherwise it looks pretty good.
