I used an aluminum pot for the first 3 years I brewed... Cheap and easy! Zero ill-effect on the beer. Eventually I wanted to upgrade with ball valve, thermometer and sight glass and three years in my aluminum was showing its age. My rationale for moving to a keggle was that if I was going to invest in kettle upgrades, I wanted a pot that would last and be worthy of all the bling. I have absolutely no regrets in going stainless
 
Being able to more easily clean and not worry about the oxide layer is why at some point I will switch to stainless, but overall I am satisfied with my Aluminum pot. It will likely live on as an hlt after.
 
Works good, dont make the mistake i did and put Oxy clean in it for extended periods.

Im pretty sure thats what ate a hole in the bottom of my aluminum pot.
 
I brew inside an apartment on a gas stove with an aluminum pot because the aluminum heats up faster and distributes heat better AND cools faster with my wort chiller. With stainless it would take me longer to bring temps up to boiling, which also means more gas used and a hotter apartment. If/when I move outdoors I'd then start looking into stainless steel
 
I currently use aluminum pots and I love them. They are cheaper and transfer heat better. I may go to keggles when I step up to 10 gallon batches (that should be a while though) but that'll only happen if I can find kegs cheaper than 15 gallon pots.
