I am just finished with a hectic brew day. Five hours plus. I changed a lot of the things I do, hopefully for the better. However, at the end, after I have my perfectly cooled and aerated wort, pitched full of properly rehydrated yeast all sanitized and everything, I begin to push my two hole rubber stopper into the neck of the carboy (complete with thermowell and airlock) and it kept popping back up, not sealing.
An so I pushed harder and still it kept popping up and so I pushed even harder..it being the end of a very long brew day, my back was very tired and then...thunk! The stopper complete with thermowell and temperature controller went into the carboy! WHEEEEEE.
I would like to say that was kind of not fun. I fished it out after about 25 minutes of cursing and bending coat hangers, swishing them around in sanitizer and slowly working the bastard out of the carboy. But is there anything...anywhere I can get an alternative to this?
